The saxophone belongs to the woodwind family of musical
instruments. It is made of brass. Sound is produced
by blowing a stream of air through a mouthpiece, and over a small
piece of wood called a reed. It is capable of producing mid
and low pitches. The saxophone usually plays harmonies within
the band.
All students in grades
3 through 8
are able to sign up for the saxophone.
