The trumpet belongs to the brass family of musical
instruments. It is made of brass. Sound is produced by buzzing your
lips into a mouthpiece, which by itself sounds like a duck call. The
trumpet plays notes from the middle to high range. It has a bright
and clear tone. The strength of the trumpet is used for fanfares and
melodies within the band. All students in grades 3 through 8 are able
to sign up for the trumpet.
