Q: How much does the band program cost?
A: The band program is $43/month for eight months ($78 for 2 children, $86 for 3 children). Band tuition is an annual amount based on thirty lessons per school year, regardless of holidays or school closings.
Q: How do I pay for band?
A: Payments are due on the 1st of the month. The easiest way to pay is via automatic credit card payments—your credit card will be charged on or about the 15th of each month for the balance of the school year. You can elect to sign up for automatic payments on the band registration form, or by calling us at 516-921-4543 (or 845-452-8528).
You can pay via check, cash, money order, or credit card by submitting the payment (with coupon) to your child’s band director or mailing to: Paul Effman Music Service P.O. Box 19 Syosset, NY 11791
Q: I signed up for automatic credit card payments, but still received a payment coupon sheet, what do I do?
A: If you have signed up for automatic credit card payments, you can discard the coupon sheet.
Q: If my child leaves the band program do I get a refund?
A: Tuition charges stop in the month your child leaves the program. There are no refunds for instrument rentals.
Q: I rented an instrument, but now I would like to buy a new one, can I get a refund on the rental?
A: We can apply a portion of your rental fee to the purchase price of the new instrument. Please contact us for more information.
Q: What is the easiest band instrument to learn?
A: Every instrument requires practice and dedication. No one instrument is easier to play or learn than another. If your child wants to be in the band, but is unsure of what instrument to play, the clarinet is a great instrument to start on the first year. Your child than can switch to any other instrument the following year and bring along the experience. Remember: there is no such thing as a boys’ instrument or a girls’ instrument.
Q: Can my child switch instruments in the middle of the school year?
A: If your child dislikes their instrument, you should speak to the band director to have your child switched to another instrument.
Q: When does my child start his band lessons?
A: There is a school assembly where the band program is presented. Your child will receive a registration form for the school band. Usually within a week or two after registration, you will receive a “BAND WELCOME PACKET,” which will include a band schedule that states the first lesson date and time.
Q: How often should my child practice at home?
A: Your child should be prepared to practice for at least 20 minutes a day, 4 days a week.
